I knew this would be great for repotting plants and transplanting starts into the garden, but what I didn't expect was that I'd also use it so much for general weeding and foraging. This knife gets right down along the taproot of dandelion and curly dock without disturbing the rest of my no-till garden bed. It's got a good weight for chopping and sawing, and is perfect for digging trenches.
I wondered if the blade would be more of a novelty item, but I did find myself using it to divide bulbs. It was sharp enough for the task without being a danger to hold and use as a spade.
As far as in the garden, I like it most for interplanting. As the season warms up and I'm adding warm weather starts behind cool weather crops, I can just carve out a little hole and drop my soil blocks in. I find myself heading out into the garden more and more armed with just this tool to do most garden chores!
